Marseille Parks, Gardens and Marseille Arboretums
(Marseille, Provence-Alpes Côte d'Azur, France, FR)
Marseille's parks and gardens range from the vast green space of Parc Borély to small historic parks and gardens. Whether large or small, all of Marseille's parks and gardens allow visitors an opportunity to relax, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Many of the most popular gardens in Marseille are particularly well-placed to allow spectacular sea views, incorporating nearby coastal scenery. Here are Marseille's main parks and gardens.
Marseille Parks and Gardens: Parc Borély - Avenue du Parc Borély, 13008 Marseille, France, FR
Of all Marseille's parks and gardens, Parc Borély is the largest and most popular. Its 133 acres / 54 hectares include beautiful ponds and lakes, rose gardens, landscaped 19th-century gardens, palm trees and a botanical garden. An attractive centrepiece to the park is an 18th-century country house, surrounded by its own French-style gardens. A wide variety of attractions and recreational activities within the park means there is something here for everyone, whether it's a stroll round its gardens, or to bring the children to feed the ducks and enjoy a boat ride on the lake.

Marseille Parks and Gardens: Jardin du Pharo - 58 Boulevard Charles-Livon, 13007Marseille, France, FR
This charming garden surrounds the Palais du Pharo, built by Napoleon III on land given to him by the people of Marseille. Positioned on a headland overlooking the sea, this garden also appeals to visitors who come to enjoy splendid views both over the old harbour itself and the rest of Marseille. Other attractions include a children's play area and refreshment stall. A statue by André Verdilhan erected in memory of victims lost at sea is a stark reminder of Marseille's maritime links.

Marseille Parks and Gardens: Jardin Pierre Puget - Avenue Abbé-Dassy, 13007 Marseille, France, FR
The oldest of Marseille's gardens, Jardin Pierre Puget was created back in the 19th century. Chief among the garden's attractions are the magnificent views that visitors can enjoy over the old harbour. A pleasant walk through the park and across a footbridge brings visitors to the nearby Notre-Dame du la Garde, making this an ideal place to combine a pleasant stroll with some great sightseeing.
