The little port of La Ciotat, about 32 km / 20 miles from Marseille, is acknowledged as the birthplace of cinema. Movie buffs can visit the town's train station where, in 1895, the Lumière brothers made the world's first ever film. Another attraction is the Eden Cinema, reputed to be the oldest cinema in the world.
